Committed to team work, training and good doses of laughter, Te Waka Dragons has built up a strong reputation among the Queensland, Australian and International dragon boating community.
In the spirit of its foundation members, Te Waka (‘the boat’ in Maori) promotes enjoyment of the sport through its regular training sessions, community events and attendance at regattas.
We aim to provide a club which allows everyone in the community to participate in this fun water sport. Our membership represents a variety of cultures, age groups and backgrounds, as well as levels of experience (from beginners to the elite).

Launching out of Breakfast Creek, the Brisbane River is our training ground.

While the social paddlers take in the sights, the elite race squad focuses on technique and endurance in preparation for the increasingly competitive local, state, national and international regattas.
Te Waka competes in all three dragon boating categories – Mixed, Women’s and Men’s ‘teams (also known as Opens) and across all race distances offered – 200m, 500m, 1000m and 2000m.
